EU advocate-general issues opinion on whether German gambling licensing must be disapplied

The EU's advocate-general issues an opinion on a dispute over sports-betting losses claimed from Maltese operator Tipico, which lacked a German licence. Tipico argued it was unable to get a licence because the system was flawed. German courts asked whether EU freedom-to-provide-services requires disapplying the entire licensing regime. The opinion assesses the tension between national gambling rules and EU law.



EU top court issues ruling on energy suppliers? bid to challenge German state-aid approval
